The San Jose Sharks are on the search for a new front office member. Longtime general manager Doug Wilson decided to officially step down from his position. The Sharks released Wilson's resignation announcement Thursday afternoon.
“These past 19 years serving as general manager of the San Jose Sharks have been a privilege and one of the most fulfilling and enjoyable periods of my life,” said Wilson. “I have been incredibly fortunate to work for and with some of the most talented and passionate people in the game of hockey.”
Wilson spent the last 19 seasons managing the Sharks but has been unable to fulfill his role since late November. He ended his announcement with a note regarding his health and future in the league.

Until the position is filled, assistant general manager Joe Will will continue to manage the Sharks until the GM vacancy is filled.
