Dario Saric was one of the big bright spots for the Philadelphia 76ers last season. The Croatian finally came over to the NBA after being drafted 12th overall in 2014, and had a very good rookie season. He averaged 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game as he finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting.

But even with his strong performances, Saric still isn’t a lock to become the full-time starter at power forward for the Sixers this season, especially with former No. 1 pick Ben Simmons returning. However, the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey reports that Saric has no problem if he does end up on the bench.

From an X’s and O’s perspective, Robert Covington would be a better fit alongside Simmons in the Sixers' starting frontcourt than Saric because Covington is more comfortable spotting up in the corner and spacing the floor.

Meanwhile, Saric's strengths of scoring and making plays for others would be better utilized off the bench, where he would have the ball in his hands a lot more often. His offensive prowess would also fill a big need on a bench unit that doesn’t offer a lot of firepower.

If Saric is indeed comfortable with coming off the bench, it solves a couple of problems for head coach Brett Brown in terms of managing egos and making the different pieces of his team fit.
