The world of professional sports often creates a lot of bitter rivalries, especially when Hall of Fame-caliber players are in the same conference. Allen Iverson and Dwyane Wade were not safe from this notion. They spent most of their careers in a marquee matchup between the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers. Despite that, all of their battles stayed on the court, and the Sixers and Heat legends kept it that way after they retired from the league.

Wade will headline a stacked 2023 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame induction. He will be joined by other legends of his era, such as Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, and Gregg Popovich. A lot of Heat faithful were ecstatic when the news broke, but a certain Sixers legend could not help but also share the same feeling. Iverson knew that “The Flash” was one of the best shooting guards in NBA history, and was chosen by Wade to induct him into the hall.

Iverson responded by giving Wade his props in an Instagram post. “The Answer” captioned his post with “What an honor!!,” as he recognized Wade's game.

Iverson did not forget about D-Wade after all their years of battling with one another. Even though Iverson didn't stay in the league too long while Wade was also there, it's clear that these two have maintained a close bond ever since they first met.

This just proves that a lot of the vitriol fans see on the court does not carry off the court. As Iverson and Wade show here, the duels on the court can actually turn into lifelong friendships.
