Philadelphia 76ers veteran Danny Green is spilling tea about Ben Simmons ahead of the matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday. While Simmons won't be playing in the showdown, he will be on the bench, subjecting himself to a Philly crowd that's sure to let him hear it, and then some.

One claim Green passed along during an appearance on The Ryen Russillo Podcast was Simmons changing his phone number without anybody telling him on the team. The Sixers veteran said he texted Simmons “a bunch” but never heard back:

If it wasn't anymore clear at this point, it's obvious that Simmons was done with Philly and the Sixers are thrilled to have moved on from this mess. There's certainly blame to go around for how things got so bad, but you have to imagine Sixers players harbor at least some resentment here, though in the end it wound up getting them a motivated James Harden. Joel Embiid made his feelings very clear about the trade with an epic meme right after it happened, and Green isn't the only role player speaking out about the whole situation. Georges Niang also chimed in with some notable frustration this week.

One could argue Green is going over the line by going after Simmons like this, but the frustration is at least understandable. It's going to be a rowdy atmosphere at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night, and both teams should have a little extra motivation for this one. It's a bummer that Simmons won't actually be playing (Green isn't playing either), but just the fact that he'll be in the building is notable after how everything played out.
