Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown admits Sixers star big man Joel Embiid will not play in all 82 games during regular season.

The most games Embiid has played in a season is 64. The Sixers want to make sure Embiid is fresh for the playoffs, which means they'll probably load manage the All-Star over the course of the regular season.

Last season for the Sixers, Joel Embiid played in 64 games. The two-time All-Star averaged 27.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.9 blocks while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 30.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Embiid recorded 58 double-doubles, two triple-doubles and helped the Sixers get to the second round of the playoffs, where they lost to the Toronto Raptors in seven games on that epic game-winning shot by Kawhi Leonard.

The Sixers have a really good shot at winning the title in 2019-20. Philly’s starting lineup of Ben Simmons, Josh Richardson, Tobias Harris, Al Horford and Embiid is as good as it gets in the NBA. For Philly to accomplish its goal of winning the championship, Embiid has to be 100 percent — or at least close to it — during the postseason.
