Brett Brown is hoping to put a stop to the Markelle Fultz return saga before the start of the playoffs, as the rookie point guard has garnered plenty of attention, as has Gordon Hayward of the Boston Celtics, both awaiting an impending return to the court.

With only 14 games left in the season, Brown was asked yet again if he pictured a return by the top overall pick this season.

“I truly don't know,” said Brown, according to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “We see him getting better. This decision we're speaking of will be generated very much in a collaborative spirit, led by him. We have medical people, we have coaches, we have Markelle Fultz the player; it's all kind of fluid.”

“I think at some point soon, a decision is going to have to be made so that we can progress forward.”

Many have gathered the sense that there is no point in bringing back a rookie that is yet to play and develop chemistry with his team, as the Sixers are battling for the best position available in a narrow Eastern Conference race.

Fultz has been progressing quite nicely, seemingly getting rhythm and lift in his jump shot to pair with the corrected mechanics he worked on throughout the season after seeing only four games of action to open the season.

Yet these views are merely him against the coaching staff, without drawing heavy contact or getting up and down the court against players in full-season shape.

The Sixers are far better developing him as much as possible throughout the offseason, as the hope to incorporate him into the fold for the 2018-19 season.
