Contrary to prior reports, James Harden reportedly has not signed his extension with the Philadelphia 76ers for next season. The opt-in option is worth $47.3 million, and reports say that both Harden and the Sixers are confident in where they stand long term, as Sixers reporter Kyle Neubeck reported.

The NBA world was shocked on Thursday when news of the trade between the Sixers and the Nets was going through. Philadelphia sent Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two future first-round picks to Brooklyn. In return, the Sixers received superstar point guard James Harden and veteran forward Paul Millsap.

The trade appears to appease both teams. The Nets are in the middle of a free fall. They have lost 10 straight games and fallen all the way to the #8 seed in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Durant is still weeks away from returning from his MCL injury. With Kyrie Irving's inability to play home games, and Harden's struggled to stay on the court and focused, it made sense to ship him away.

The flip side was for Philadelphia, who gained a rejuvenated Harden. Simmons had sat out all season and had stated multiple times he was never going to suit up for the Sixers again. Things had got so contentious that a rift between Simmons and Sixers' All-Star big man Joel Embiid had spilled off the court. Embiid didn't pull any punches when he reacted to the trade.

It's typically not ideal giving up two first round picks, but with how good the Sixers are expected to be, they will most likely be late rounders.
