Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has played a key part in the team's current seven-game winning streak. However, the Sixers center isn't making much of their unbeaten run due to the lowly opponents they've been facing.

After Philly's 20-point win over the Rockets on Wednesday, Embiid spoke out on the matter, via Sports Illustrated:

“These type of wins don't excite me too much,” said Embiid. “We haven't really played good teams. Right before [this stint], we played Milwaukee twice, Phoenix, Steph (Curry) when he was hot and making everything. So, we had a couple of tough games against really good teams. Lately, games have been easier, and that's why we've dominated.”

He does have a point. Although it's great to rack up the wins, it feels even better when you're doing it against good teams.

Two of their first three victories in this streak were against the Atlanta Hawks, who have been very impressive since the All-Star break. After that though, the Sixers beat the Spurs, Bulls, Rockets, and Pelicans. Prior to these seven games, Doc Rivers' team lost to the Warriors, Suns, and Bucks on two occasions. Therefore, you can see why Embiid is making these comments.

Nevertheless, Philadelphia currently has a stranglehold on the Eastern Conference title, holding a three-game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks with five contests to go. Embiid meanwhile, is showing out on a nightly basis, erupting for 37 points and 13 rebounds against New Orleans on Friday night.

Unfortunately, the competition moving forward doesn't get much more difficult for the Sixers, with the exception of a matchup with the Heat. Hopefully, their struggles against better teams towards the end of the campaign don't come back to haunt them come playoff time.
