Sixers superstar Joel Embiid has been playing through some clear knee pain so far this season and finally got an MRI on Monday to see if there was anything structurally wrong. Thankfully, nothing was found. Via Ramona Shelburne of ESPN:

As noted, Embiid will rest on Monday night as the Sixers face the Portland Trail Blazers. The big man has played in all six games so far, registering an average 30 minutes per game. After they played the Knicks last week, Embiid revealed that he could barely walk the next day.

Nevertheless, it appears there's nothing to be worried about. The Sixers center is simply just dealing with soreness that will hopefully subside with rest. It's definitely hurt his production though, averaging 21 points and 8.7 rebounds so far. With no Ben Simmons, Embiid is definitely feeling the obligation to play as many minutes as possible but with an entire season ahead, it would be smart to make sure he's not overdoing it.

The Cameroonian is expected to be back on the floor against the red-hot Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. His 19 points on Saturday helped the Sixers take down the Atlanta Hawks in their first meeting since they knocked Philly out in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
