When it was reported that Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid suffered a right hand bruise during their game against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, it gave the team's fans a lot of worries. Knowing his history of injuries, and how the Sixers have been known to take a cautious approach on his health, they feared he may miss significant time once again, which could greatly affect the team's chances of stringing more wins to start the season.

However, the 23-year-old Kansas product recently made it clear, via Keith Pompey of Philly.com, that he does not plan to sit out games, and is not worried about what team doctors will say to him. He plans to continue playing, and still contribute to the Sixers' cause.

Embiid is having a great start to this season, and has built on the momentum he gained from last year. He is producing solid averages of 20.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals in 27.6 minutes per game. His playing time has increased so far, as he has also been vocal about wanting to play more, and not be placed under a minutes restriction anymore.

This is definitely a good sign for the Philly faithful, as their promising young center is showing a lot of dedication and the desire to help the team become more successful. If he'll be able to remain healthy as the season progresses, it will be a huge boost to the 76ers, especially to their quest of making a postseason appearance.
