Thanks in large part to an outstanding shooting performance from rookie Landry Shamet, the Sixers managed to walk away from Tuesday night's game against the Wizards with a 132-115 victory.

In his 25 minutes of playing time, Shamet racked up a career-high 29 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field (8-of-14 from beyond the arc), three rebounds, one assist and one steal.

According to Justin Kubatko of StatMuse, Shamet's eight 3-pointers set a new Sixers rookie record for the most made in a game. The previous record was six, and it was held by Allen Iverson (three times) and Hollis Thompson:

Sixers big man Joel Embiid, who finished Tuesday game with 20 points and 10 rebounds, had high praise for Shamet's stroke.

With Philly leading by a wide margin in the second half, Embiid made his was to the second row of the stands to watch the game with a young fan. During a break in the action, he placed his hand on Shamet's forehead, as if he were taking his temperature:

“He was hot,” Embiid told ESPN during his postgame media availability. “It was amazing.”

Shamet was in the lineup as a replacement for sharpshooter JJ Redick, who is currently dealing with a back issue. It was Redick's first DNP of this season, and Shamet made the most of his opportunity:

“He more than replaced JJ,” Embiid said.

Coming into Tuesday night's game, Shamet was carrying averages of 7.7 points on 38.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Following the game, the former 26th overall pick noted that his teammates encouraged him to continue shooting the rock:

“It felt like another game,” Shamet said. “I came out shooting and these guys told me to keep shooting.”

The Sixers will be back in action on Wednesday night, as they're scheduled for another matchup against the Wizards — this time in the nation's capital. Tip-off inside Capital One Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
