The Philadelphia 76ers were back on their home floor Saturday night for the second leg of a back-to-back. Next up on their schedule was one of the NBA's most surprising teams this season in the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Darius Garland and company made things interesting with a second-half push, but the Sixers managed to halt their run and take complete control of the game. In the end, they picked up the victory by a final score of 103-93.

There were multiple takeaways from this contest, but one stands out above the rest: Joel Embiid continued his MVP campaign with arguably his best performance of the season. The Sixers' All-Star center notched his second triple-double of the season with a monster stat line of 40 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists while playing only 32 minutes.

Heading into the matchup, many had their eyes on the battle in the frontcourt. Not many teams have the size to combat a player like Embiid, but Cleveland is one of them. With players like Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley in the lineup, the Cavs had the size and length to defend Philly's franchise cornerstone.

Even with their plethora of bigs, the Cavs could not slow down Embiid. He had his way all night and even posterized Allen with a slam that could be in contention for dunk of the year. From the opening tip, Embiid made it clear he was the best player on the floor by a wide margin.

After the game, players and coaches raved about the masterclass put on by Embiid. First up was head coach Doc Rivers.

“I loved his energy overall. Very aggressive, very physical. We talked about it with a shot blocker, you have to shoulder in the chest a lot, and I thought he did that. Kept him off balance but allowed Joel [Embiid] to get his step-backs. Joel was phenomenal obviously, and we needed every point,” said Rivers.

Later on, Tyrese Maxey gave his thoughts on the play of his All-Star teammate. This being his second season playing with Embiid now, the big thing for him is not to take his performances for granted.

“I'm not even surprised at this point. He's phenomenal. I try extremely hard not to take it for granted. Just because we see it every single night, his greatness, I don't want to take it for granted. I want to be able to, down the road, a long time from now, be able to tell people that I was able to be a part of something extremely special,” Maxey said postgame.

There are no more words left to describe the level of play we've seen from Embiid this season. The Sixers star has taken his game to new heights, and it has led to an array of masterclasses like what we saw Saturday night. Showings like this should have opposing teams nervous for when Embiid is flanked by another high-level talent in James Harden.
