San Antonio Spurs center Pau Gasol could soon be teaming up with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Chris Sheridan of Get More Sports.

Signs of a potential Kawhi Leonard trade to the Sixers are still in play, as the 2014 Finals MVP is reportedly “OK” with signing a contract extension with Philly, which could make Gasol a bundle asset in a trade scenario, per Sheridan.

The Sixers will need a veteran presence to make up for the loss of Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova, as well as a face-up big man that can teach Joel Embiid a few tricks, boasting a similar play-style.

Gasol is entering the final season of a three-year, $48 million contract and could be in a familiar situation playing under Brett Brown, who comes from the school of Gregg Popovich as one of his former assistants.

Philadelphia is willing to part ways with many assets, but only the right combination of them will garner Leonard's services. Parting ways with Gasol would allow some salary relief for the Spurs, who will likely try to grow through the draft, something that they haven't done given the past two decades of playoff success for San Antonio.
