Philadelphia 76ers small forward Jimmy Butler and point guard T. J. McConnell have become good friends since the Sixers acquired Butler from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both players are tough defenders and play hard, so naturally, they have bonded well on and off the court.

Friday night against the Atlanta Hawks, T.J. McConnell helped Jimmy Butler possibly avoid a technical foul.

Butler got elbowed in the face by Hawks center Alex Len in the paint. The former Chicago Bulls and Timberwolve star was angry and wanted to get up and confront Len, but his buddy McConnell was in the right place at the right time and dragged the four-time All-Star away from Len.

Smart move by McConnell here. Butler is an important player for the Sixers in this game, so the team couldn't afford to possibly lose the swingman to an ejection if he got into a fight with Len, especially since Philly superstar big man Joel Embiid isn't playing.

Butler is also a strong guy, so McConnell was probably having trouble lifting Butler up by himself. Either way, this was a funny and lighthearted moment during the game for the Sixers, who are surprisingly having a tough time against the lowly Atlanta Hawks.
