Not a lot of people have expected it, but here we are. Slime Rancher 2 is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.

The new Slime Rancher game retains the cuddly charm of the original. It still has the same graphical art style, and from what we can tell – the same gameplay. The trailer says that it's going to feature a new adventure, but nothing more than that. We do hope that more information on what upgrades we're getting can come out soon. But if we're getting just an expanded experience from the original Slime Rancher in the sequel, that'll be fine as well.

One of the biggest changes about the game, though, comes in which platforms it will be available in. Unlike before, wherein Slime Rancher was available on every platform, this time it's a Microsoft exclusive. At least at launch. When Slime Rancher comes out sometime next year in 2022, it will only be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. It will launch as part of the Xbox Game Pass, which explains the exclusivity. We do hope it still finds its way in other platforms eventually, though.

Slime Rancher follows the story of Beatrix LeBeau in Far Far Range, a faraway planet. There, she takes care of slime livestock which you can breed and raise as your own. Then, you sell them off to earn money and upgrade your gear and equipment. The game received phenomenal reviews from critics, with an overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam and an 81 aggregate score on Metacritic.
