Any casual San Antonio Spurs fan knows that forward LaMarcus Aldridge is a key component of the current Spurs squad. One eagle-eyed Redditor spotted an interesting factoid that shows just how important Aldridge is.

The Redditor, who goes by the screen name “mw734“, pointed out that the Spurs have not lost a single game in which Aldridge breaks the 20 point barrier.

So far, the six-time All-Star has scored 20 or more points nine times, with a season-high of 37 against the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct 22nd. Every time the Spurs finished the game with a victory. The streak remained perfect after San Antonio defeated the Chicago Bulls 108-107 on Monday night and Aldridge chipped in 20 points.

The Spurs' record when Aldridge did not score at least 20 points further credits his importance. The team is a lowly 1-11 in games where Aldridge does not find his groove offensively.

It doesn't take an NBA coach to see why the Texas native is so integral to the Spurs' success.

Aldridge is an excellent stretch forward that spaces the floor for DeMar DeRozan and provides plenty of offense on the block. For a team that frequently does not have as much star power as their opponent. The Spurs need Aldridge to get buckets if they want to keep pace in this year's high-scoring league.

Thankfully for San Antonio fans, the big man has gotten off to a solid start to the season. Aldridge currently boasts a stat line of 18 points, 11 rebounds, and one block per game on 42 percent shooting from the field.

If the Spurs want to continue their streak of playoff appearances, they will continue to rely on big numbers from their star forward.
