The father of San Antonio Spurs star DeMar DeRozan just passed away, the four-time All-Star shared in a touching social media post.

The 31-year-old penned a heartfelt public tribute for his dad, Frank DeRozan, and expressed what his father meant to him. The post accompanied a picture of Frank, along with his son and grandchildren, rocking a Spurs hat:

“Words won’t serve justice to what you meant to me,” DeMar DeRozan said. “Never missed a game, a practice, a opportunity to show me what a great father was. You pushed me my whole life to be able to withstand the roughest of times. Never seen you complain nor fold. All I cared about was making you proud. Over the past 3 years I seen you display the ultimate measure of a man fighting to the end. Wish I could tell you thank you one last time. Rest well Big Dog! Love you Dad…”

As Doug Smith of the Toronto Star shared, Frank DeRozan had been sick for quite a while. During his tenure with the Raptors, DeMar DeRozan would fly back home to Los Angeles every chance he could to spend time with his ailing father. He continued to do that as a member of the Spurs, and the Compton, California native even missed time earlier this season to attend to his dad.

Our thoughts and prayers go to DeMar DeRozan and his entire family through these trying times. It's clear his father meant a lot to him and helped him become the dad he is today to his two daughters.
