Could we be watching the San Antonio Spurs' dynasty crumble? It's very possible, and the Spurs' defensive woes don't provide San Antonio fans with much hope for improvement. The Spurs are allowing opposing teams to impose their will on offense, and the amount of 120 point games they have allowed has skyrocketed in 2018:

Of course, much of this has to do with the changes the NBA is undergoing. Offense is way up across the league due to the new era of pace and space. Teams are jacking up way more 3s and playing way faster than ever before.

That being said, San Antonio's defense still ranks among the worst in the league this season. Any time a team falls in between the Knicks and Suns in defensive rating, it's probably not a good sign.

Furthermore, San Antonio's biggest stars are having legitimate struggles on the defensive end. LaMarcus Aldridge has a paltry defensive rating of 113.4 this season. He's better when he has his running mate, DeMar DeRozan, on the court. But not by enough to make too much of a difference.

The Spurs are currently 10-12 and in 14th place in the Western Conference. They're only one game out of the eighth seed, but it's hard to imagine the Spurs making a playoff push unless head coach Gregg Popovich can flip a switch and fix the defense.

The Spurs have made the playoffs a ridiculous 21 straight times. Furthermore, in their 42 seasons in the NBA, San Antonio has only failed to make the playoffs in four seasons. Popovich and San Antonio's sterling playoff record is in jeopardy.
