The San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks have been linked with each other for a potential Dejounte Murray-John Collins swap this offseason. Apparently, though, there is some other motivation behind it in Murray and the Hawks' part.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report in his podcast, Murray and Hawks star Trae Young want to play together. It is interesting to note that both players are being represented by Klutch Sports.

“I know that Dejounte and Trae want to play together, or at least have interest in doing it,” Fischer said, via Basketball News.

As mentioned, this could be a big reason why the Hawks are determined to trade for Dejounte Murray. They have explored moving John Collins before anyway, so getting a player with great chemistry with Trae Young in exchange for the big man could be another big win for the team.

However, the bad news for the Hawks is that it would take more than just Collins to trade for Murray. The Spurs are reportedly seeking for at least three future first-round picks in any Murray trade, which might be a bit pricey for Atlanta.

For their part, Fischer revealed that the Spurs are already collecting intel on Collins, so it looks like there is also interest in San Antonio in making the deal–that is if the price is right.

It remains to be seen if the two teams will push through the deal, but it is definitely something worth keeping an eye on this offseason.
