Near the end of the Winter Sale, Steam announced the winners of the Steam Awards 2022, all of which were voted for by players and fans on the platform.
At the start of the 2022 Winter Sale, Steam announced the opening of the Steam Awards. There, players could vote in each of the eleven categories. They could either nominate a specific game or choose from one of the recommended games. After almost two weeks of voting, the results are finally out.
- 2022 Game of the Year: Elden Ring (Last year's winner: Resident Evil Village)
- 2022 VR Game of the Year: Hitman 3 (Last year's winner: Cooking Simulator VR)
- Labor of Love: Cyberpunk 2077 (Last year's winner: Terraria)
- Better with Friends: Raft (Last year's winner: It Takes Two)
- Outstanding Visual Style: Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Last year's winner: Forza Horizon 5)
- Most Innovative Gameplay: Stray (Last year's winner: Deathloop)
- Best Game You Suck At: Elden Ring (Last year's winner: Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition)
- Best Soundtrack: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (Last year's winner: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy)
- Outstanding Story-Rich Game: God of War (Last year's winner: Cyberpunk 2077)
- Sit Back and Relax: Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (Last year's winner: Farming Simulator 22)
- Best Game on the Go: Death Stranding Director's Cut
