A few of the backups for the Pittsburgh Steelers are getting some good run in OTA's especially on the offensive side of the ball, with some key Steelers players not attending. Star wide receiver Antonio Brown and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger have joined Le'Veon Bell in not attending the voluntary workouts, per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette.

It's ironic that Brown hasn't been showing up because it was just a few days ago that Brown told Bell, who is holding out for a new contract, that if he to get that deal he should show up, and that could help things.

Antonio Brown already has his new contract, so maybe he didn't feel it was necessary to show up and make a point, but as a team leader and just a few days removed from making those comments, it seems like a bad look.

Roethlisberger showed up for the first day, and Brown showed up for the first two days but haven't attended since. Why Brown and Roethlisberger aren't attending is unclear, but these are the voluntary workouts, so there isn't much that the team can do.

Neither of these guys has made any indication they wouldn't be around when the mandatory workouts start, so as of now it's still expected they will be in attendance for those. Still, it's a bit surprising that they've decided to skip some days of OTAs. They may have legitimate reasons for doing so, though, so it's not time to start wildly speculating just yet.
