Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger likely won’t be at full capacity in practice for the time being. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin says his starting quarterback is dealing with a minor elbow injury which could see him limited for the early part of the week.

Per Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network:

Head coach Mike Tomlin says Ben Roethlisberger has a minor elbow issue that may limit him in the early part of the week. But he seems unconcerned, saying Steelers “oftentimes limit him in the beginning of the week anyway” to give younger guys reps.

When asked to elaborate on Big Ben’s health, Mike Tomlin says, “It's just bumps and bruises associated with the game,” per Kinkhabwala.

Roethlisberger is coming off a disappointing outing in their Week 1 tie against the Cleveland Browns. He was responsible for five of the team’s six turnovers with three interceptions and two lost fumbles. He was also sacked four times, which was how he got those aforementioned bumps and bruises in the first place.

Considering how good James Conner (192 total yards, two touchdowns) was in place of Le’Veon Bell, even a slightly better performance from Big Ben could’ve given the Steelers the win. But they didn’t get the W and must now move on to Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Steelers will need Roethlisberger to be at 100 percent or as close to it as possible by Sunday to keep up with an explosive Chiefs offense which looked mighty impressive in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
