Jay Glazer of Fox Sports humorously reported—and later explained—that Ben Roethlisberger's offseason workouts didn't include many exercises. In response to Glazer's report, Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert isn't too concerned with Roethlisberger's shape this offseason.

“I know where Ben is, where he’s been in his career, and I’ve never worried about his conditioning,” Colbert said, per Mark Madden of WXDX. “When he shows up at training camp, he’s ready to go. He knows how to prepare himself.

Over the course of his career in the NFL, Roethlisberger has never particularly been in remarkable shape. Nonetheless, he's been able to have a successful career in the NFL, winning two Super Bowls with the Steelers.

Heading into the 2020 NFL season, Roethlisberger is entering his 17th season in the pros. Above all, he's coming off of a season-ending elbow injury that sidelined him for 14 games in 2019. Despite his injury concerns later in his career, Colbert believes Roethlisberger has something to prove in 2020.

“I know that he could easily walk away from this game as well, but he’s continuing to play it because I think he really wants to prove and do more,” Colbert said. “To me, the guy has Hall of Fame credentials as he stands today, but that’s not enough for him—and, to me, that’s a mark of greatness.”

There's no doubt that Roethlisberger has never put as much time in the gym as someone like Cam Newton. However, regardless of what his workout regiment entails in the offseason, Roethlisberger is obviously doing something right.
