Teams around the NFL are beginning to place players on the COVID-19 reserve list as training camps are gearing up to begin. According to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, the Pittsburgh Steelers have placed James Washington and Jaylen Samuels on the COVID-19 reserve list.

While both Washington and Samuels are placed on the list, that doesn't assure that either of them tested positive for the coronavirus. However, at the least, both of them were in contact with someone that was exposed to COVID-19. Therefore, the Steelers are taking extra precautions, putting Washington and Samuels on the team's reserve list.

Heading into the 2020 season, Washington is expected to enter training camp as the No. 3 wide receiver on Pittsburgh's depth chart. Both JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson figure to have the first two spots secured.

With that being said, Washington could see some competition for targets with rookie Chase Claypool in 2020. Washington tallied a career-best 44 receptions for 735 yards and three touchdowns last season.

As for Samuels, similar to Washington, he's going to have to earn his playing time with the Steelers this season. Besides Samuels, Pittsburgh deploys a backfield that features James Conner, Benny Snell, and rookie Anthony McFarland.

Seeing that Conner is at one-hundred percent, he is slated to be the starter again in 2020. But if he suffers another injury this season, Samuels is competing for the No. 2 spot behind Conner.

Before Washington and Samuels can return, they'll need to pass multiple tests that are conducted by the league. Until then, the Steelers seem to be without both of them while training camps get underway.
