The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for one last ride with veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. On Monday, it was announced that the Steelers had agreed to terms with Melvin Ingram to add even more firepower to that defensive unit.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it is a one-year deal for the former Los Angeles Chargers Pro Bowler.

Ingram has spent his entire career with the Chargers but hit the free-agent market after LA couldn't make ends meet financially. Now Ingram will bolster the edge with an already dangerous defense that includes TJ Watt.

However, Ingram was somewhat of a hot commodity and had interest from a couple of other teams as well.

It appears that Ingram waited and wanted to go to Pittsburgh. He should come in on day one and make a difference. The question is, how much does he have left in the tank?

He made the Pro Bowl three times with the Chargers, but the last couple of seasons haven't been as kind to Ingram. His last Pro Bowl trip was in 2019 when he made his third straight trip to the game.

In 2020, he played in just seven games and didn't record a sack. When healthy, he can play, and the Steelers are giving him a prove-it deal to see what Ingram has left.
