Since suffering a major back injury last season that required spinal stabilization surgery, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier has been on the mend with his rehab. He has been steadily working his way back from the ailment with progressive progress being made in the last several months.

There hasn't been a timetable placed on when Shazier could be physically able to move without any limitation, but that hasn't deterred him from his ultimate goal of one day getting back into the NFL. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, the 25-year-old has voiced that is his “dream” to get back on the field once again.

There still appears to be plenty of physical hurdles he will first half to get past before that goal can be realized in any manner. He has been able to continue to take steps forward with his rehab along the way that saw him power himself through to walking across the stage during the 2018 NFL Draft just over a month ago.

Shazier followed that up on Wednesday by being able to walk under his own power to the podium to speak with the media with the help of a cane. It is another step forward that Shazier is showing more progress in his rehab that should give him more hope that one day he can finally return to the field.

He has the unbridled support of the franchise and many of peers for him to get back to being fully healthy like he was prior to the injury. The further along he gets in the process towards being able to move around without any physical limitations, the more realistic those aspirations will become. In the meantime, it is clear he has the right mindset to reach that goal at some point down the road.
