The Phoenix Suns are set to add guard Isaiah Canaan under the injury hardship exception, per Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania.

The Suns currently have four players, including star shooting guard Devin Booker, sidelined two weeks or more, which makes them eligible for the exception.

Canaan, 26, is currently playing with the Suns’ G League affiliate, the Northern Arizona Suns. He has spent five seasons for three different teams in the NBA, averaging 8.4 points while shooting 35 percent on 3-pointers.

After spending all of last year with the Chicago Bulls, Canaan was briefly signed by the Houston Rockets this season following Chris Paul's knee injury in the first game of the year. He was waived four days later after playing in one game.

Canaan will join a struggling Suns team that finds itself close to the bottom of the West. They are now 9-20 after losing nine of their last 11 games, including the last four games in a row.

Canaan will look to boost Suns' guard rotation which has resorted to starting rookie Josh Jackson at shooting guard for the last three games with Booker injured.

Journeyman guard Troy Daniels has also seen a spike in playing time off the bench. He is averaging 10.5 points on 34.5 percent 3-point shooting in 25.5 minutes per game.
