Julius Randle is interested in signing with the Phoenix Suns when he becomes a free agent this summer.

Randle has a player option for next season, but the 24-year-old forward is expected to opt out and test the market in July.

The former Kentucky standout will likely leave New Orleans, knowing that the Pelicans are dead set in making Zion Williamson, who plays the same position as Randle, as the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

And according to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 Phoenix, Randle is open to moving to the Suns. Gambadoro added that he also expects the Suns to reach out to the five-year veteran.

The 2014 first-round pick is coming off the best season of his career, as he averaged 21.4 points and 8.7 rebounds in 73 games for the Pelicans.

In an article in Valley of the Suns, Gambadoro said that if the Suns eventually acquires Randle, it would be their biggest free-agency signing since Isaiah Thomas in 2014. He believes that Randle will instantly make the Suns a better team in the next few seasons.

The Suns currently have a young promising core led by Devin Booker and 2018 first-overall pick DeAndre Ayton.

The Suns also made a huge coaching coup after they successfully edged the Los Angeles Lakers in the race to sign Monty Williams as their new head coach, replacing Igor Kokoskov after just one season.
