Team USA is gearing up for the Tokyo Olympics and was dealt some unfortunate news when it was announced that Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal entered into health and safety protocols. Well, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Beal is now out for the Olympics altogether in another crucial blow caused by COVID-19.

The loss of Beal is a big one for Team USA and they will certainly miss his offensive repertoire. Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant also entered into health and safety protocols as of Thursday, although no decision has been made on his long-term status for the Olympics. Head coach Gregg Popovich surely can't be thrilled with the loss of Beal and possibility Grant.
Beal had an outstanding year for the Wizards, being named an All-Star and finishing second in points per game to Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.

With Team USA's early struggles already, the loss of Beal will be tough and they will quickly search for somebody to take Beal's spot and possibly Grant as well, depending on what happens on that end.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding the status of Beal and the next man named to the roster with the Tokyo Olympics set for next week.
