Rudy Gobert and Team France had a heartbreaking finish to their campaign at the Tokyo Olympics, losing to Kevin Durant and Team USA in the gold medal match, 87-82.

Gobert and co. gave it their all against the Americans until succumbing in the closing moments of the game. After the final buzzer, the Utah Jazz center was caught on camera being drowned in a wave of emotion.

This isn't the first time for basketball fans to witness Rudy Gobert breaking down. In 2019, he wasn't able to keep it together during an interview when talking about his All-Star snub.

In France's contest against Team USA, Gobert had his hands full, being tasked to cover Kevin Durant multiple times. It's no secret that KD is an anomaly as a seven-footer with elite guard skills. In spite of Gobert's reputation as a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, guarding a generational talent like Durant is still a tall order.

Kevin Durant scored 29 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists for Team USA. For his part, Gobert finished the game with 16 points and eight rebounds. However, he also committed five fouls and went 6-of-13 from the free-throw line.

Those misses are probably going to hound Gobert for a certain amount of time. Against a squad such as Team USA, those freebies are always extra crucial.

Rudy Gobert and Team France will have three years to prepare for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He'll be 32 years old by then and would have gained more experience in the NBA for the Jazz.
