USA Basketball has cut Thaddeus Young and Bam Adebayo from the Team USA senior squad and promoted rising stars Marvin Bagley III and Derrick White, Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports.

The USA national team made the decision on Friday night following the intra-squad scrimmage between the senior squad and the select team members. The USA Blue Team — composed of the main roster players — beat the Blue Team of the Select players 97-78.

The promotion of both Bagley and White didn't come as a surprise, especially after they both impressed during the national team's camp held this past week. In fact, earlier reports already suggested that they would get a call-up as Team USA heads to Los Angeles to continue their training.

Bagley now joins fellow Sacramento Kings player De'Aaron Fox, who was promoted to the main roster at the start of the training camp earlier this August. Kings forward Harrison Barnes is also a member of the squad who is competing for one of the 12 roster spots.

White, on the other hand, will have more chance to work under his San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, who also leads USA Basketball in their preparation for the FIBA World Cup. White has been stellar for Team USA so far, with team director Jerry Coalngelo calling him a “very unique player.”
