Coco Gauff may have had to navigate some bumps on her way to her third win of the French Open, but doing so landed her next to one of tennis' greats. Along with booking a trip to the fourth round, Gauff also became the youngest American to reach Round 4 in seven or more consecutive Women's Singles Grand Slams since tennis legend Venus Williams.

Gauff is just two away from matching Williams' Grand Slam record of nine in a row. Despite the accomplishment, she was more focused on the parts of her game she could improve before the next round.
“Obviously, I can do some things better,” Gauff said. The 2023 US Open champ nearly dropped the second set before bouncing back and beating Czechia's Marie Bouzková 6-1, 7-6.
Article Continues Below“I served a bit more aggressive in the first set, so I was holding easier, and maybe got a little bit too passive on the serve in the second, and it allowed her to get back into the match,” Gauff said. “Just keeping the aggressive mindset is something that I can do better for the next match.”
Part of the struggle came from the extra focus needed to ignore the sound of fireworks drifting over from the nearby Paris Saint-Germain soccer stadium, where fans were gathered to see the outcome of PSG's Champions League final versus Inter Milan.
The now-World No. 2 is one of the five women who make up a stacked fourth-round U.S. crowd, rounded out by No. 3 Jessica Pegula, No. 7 Madison Keys, No. 16 Amanda Anisimova, and Hailey Baptiste.
The 21-year-old's next challenge at the French Open will come on June 2 against World No. 20 Ekaterina Alexandrova, with the winner clinching a spot in the quarterfinal round.
