Former NFL wide receiver Andre Johnson did just about everything that one can do upon reaching the highest level. While spending the majority of his NFL playing career as a member of the Houston Texans, Johnson was recently inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame while the Pro Football Hall of Fame will surely be next.
However, the longtime Texas pass catcher apparently isn't done making an impact on the game just yet. In fact, Johnson recently told John McClain of the Houston Chronicle that he'd like to become an NFL general manager.
“Andre is as great a player as I’ve ever coached,” former Texans head coach Gary Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle. “He’s the greatest worker I’ve ever been around. He was such an unselfish player, a true team player. I’m so happy he’s going into the Hall of Fame because it’s such an honor.”
Just last month, current Texans head coach Bill O’Brien and general manager Brian Gaine officially hired Johnson to work with both the team's coaching and scouting staffs.
“That’s a great thing for Andre and his family,” O’Brien said, via the Houston Chronicle. “I’ve gotten to know him better over the last couple years than I knew him when he played for us. He’s a smart guy with a great perspective on football and life. He loves Houston. What he’s done for the city on and off the field is special. I’m very happy for him because it’s a much-deserved honor.”
Johnson also played for the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts during his NFL tenure.
