Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud is reportedly out of the NFL's concussion protocol ahead of this weekend's game against the Tennessee Titans, according to Ian Rapoport.

This is big news for the Texans, who are in the thick of the AFC playoff race and need every win they can get. CJ Stroud has been out for the last two games for Houston, in which the team went 1-1. Now it seems as if he will return to the field for the Texans this weekend.

Stroud is scheduled to speak to the media today after exiting concussion protocol.

The Texans are in the conversation for a playoff spot in a couple of different ways. They are in the thick of the wild card race, but also tied atop the AFC South alongside the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts with an 8-7 record.

Houston will likely have to win the last two games of the season to make the playoffs, whether that be by winning the division or getting a wild card spot. After this weekend's game against the Titans, the Texans finish the season with a road game against the Colts.

Obviously, getting Stroud back for the last two games of the regular season would be a huge development for the team. Although he struggled in his last appearance against the Jets, the rookie has turned in an impressive season to this point, and the Texans are at their best with him under center. It will be interesting to see how he performs this week, and if the Texans can get a win with him back in the fold.
