The Washington Wizards have spun their wheels for the past few years and have made no progress in becoming a title contender. Bradley Beal remains one of the better players in the league but the team around him remains unimpressive. The front office desires a star player to get Washington into the playoff picture. They have a week left to find one.

The Wizards are reportedly looking into Domantas Sabonis, who is in a similar situation with the Indiana Pacers. The 25-year-old Sabonis could be a major talent upgrade for the Wizards. Beal is becoming increasingly disappointed with the team, making this trade season the right time to go for a big swing.

The perfect trade Wizards must offer Pacers for star Domantas Sabonis

Washington Wizards receive: Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert

Indiana Pacers receive: Rui Hachimura, Deni Avdija, Spencer Dinwiddie, Davis Bertans, 2025 first-round pick, 2022 first-round pick swap rights with Wizards

The Wizards get Sabonis as well as LeVert, who could also be a talent upgrade for the squad. A lineup consisting of LeVert, Beal and Sabonis offers an intriguing mix of talent that can be used in various situations, especially with Sabonis' playmaking and inside scoring talents making room for Beal to work on the perimeter. Surrendering an unprotected pick will sting but with Sabonis just about to enter his prime, the Wizards may improve enough to where it doesn't matter as much.

The main assets the Pacers get in this trade are Hachimura, Avdija and a future pick. Because of LeVert's injury proneness, his trade value is diminished. Still, Indiana nets a pick that could be very valuable. They also get the chance to swap picks with the Wizards and welcome in two young forwards to add to their rebuilding efforts.

Since the Wizards traded their 2023 first-round pick (which they used to acquire Russell Westbrook), the earliest pick they can trade is in 2025. The best they can do in terms of picks now is offering pick swaps to Indiana in other future drafts.

Dinwiddie and Bertans are included mostly to satisfy the salary requirements. Still, they could prove to be useful. Bertans has a history of being a dangerous and confident shooter and Dinwiddie has played near an All-Star level in the past. Getting both players back to their best forms is not likely to happen, but both could still provide decent play.
