Chris Paul has successfully guided the Oklahoma City Thunder to a trip to the postseason. With less than a week before the playoffs kickoff, the guard can't stop himself from talking about the tourney and preaching to his younger teammates.

Per Logan Newman of USA Today, Paul believes that his teammates are sick and tired of him yapping about the postseason. However, he believes that this is imperative, especially to a young team.

“I’m being serious,” the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard said while laughing, “they probably get tired of me talking about it.”

“One of the things you learn about the playoffs … is you want to make sure you have a team that feels like it can’t be beat four out of seven times,” he said on a Zoom call with media Wednesday.

“For any team to really be good, you have to have belief and you have to have hope,” he said. “If you’re in this situation with a mentality of a lack of belief or hope, you’re probably going to go home pretty quickly.”

From the looks of it, Chris Paul has been preaching about confidence ever since the season began. After all, not a single soul thought that the Thunder would qualify for the postseason. So Paul knew the importance of drilling it into the minds of his teammates over and over again.

“The best teams know that you can’t be beat on a Tuesday night in January, or on a Thursday night in July. They know that they can’t be beat four out of seven times,” Paul said. “So we’re just trying to build that identity.”

The Thunder are currently in the fifth spot in the West. They will face the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.
