The Oklahoma City Thunder are coming off back-to-back losses to the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets, which now has them at 8-11 on the season. The Thunder are looking to stop that slide, but they will have to do it without starting guard George Hill, who is out for at least a month after undergoing a procedure on his right thumb.

The team officially announced Hill's minor procedure to address a mallet finger injury of his right thumb on Tuesday. He will be reevaluated after four weeks.

Hill, who was traded by the Milwaukee Bucks to the Thunder in the offseason as part of the four-team Jrue Holiday deal, has played in 14 games this season for Oklahoma City, starting all of them. The 34-year-old holds averages of 11.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists in 26.3 minutes per game while shooting 50.8% from the field and 38.6% from beyond the arc.

Hill, the 26th overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, hasn’t played in Oklahoma City’s last four games. He last suited up in the Thunder’s 108-100 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 24. Against the Clippers, Hill finished with 22 points, making 9-of-12 shots from the field while adding two assists and two steals.

With the veteran missing a month of action, the Thunder will likely turn more to rookie Theo Maldeon, who has started in George Hill’s place alongside star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the team's most recent games. The Thunder look to stop their two-game slide when they face the Rockets in their next game on Wednesday.
