When Josh Giddey and the Oklahoma City Thunder endured the worst loss in NBA history early this December, they were the laughingstock of the NBA. Now, no one is laughing.

The Thunder have won three straight games, all of which are against teams with better record than them. After beating the Los Angeles Clippers last week, they got their revenge against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday and took care of business against the Denver Nuggets during their latest outing on Wednesday.

Giddey admitted that the loss to the Grizzlies–a 152-79 blowout–served as a wake-up call for them (although he didn't play in the said contest). While they haven't been perfect, they played way better than they showed in the Memphis game and have gone 5-of-8 in the contests they played since the embarrassing defeat.

“After that Memphis loss… we took that personally and wanted to come out and prove that’s not who we are. We didn’t want to be remembered for that,” Giddey told reporters after their victory over the Nuggets, per Brandon Rahbar of Daily Thunder.

Well, that is certainly how you use that Michael Jordan reference.

The Thunder are still far from playoff contention, although they improved to 11-19 on the season with their current winning streak. Nonetheless, it is certainly encouraging to see them prove they can compete among the best despite their young core.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been phenomenal for the franchise as he anchors the Thunder offense, but Josh Giddey has been equally impressive with some record-breaking performances.

With a young core led by SGA and Giddey, it might be the Thunder blowing out teams real soon.
