Oklahoma City Thunder legend Nick Collison officially announced his retirement from the NBA on Thursday with a news release on the Thunder team website.

“My goal was always to make a career out of basketball, and I was blessed to be in the NBA for 15 seasons,” said Collison. “As my time as a basketball player comes to an end, I’m so grateful for my family, friends, teammates, coaches, fans, my hometown, Kansas University, the Thunder organization and everyone else who has helped me along the way. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. It has been an incredible journey that I’m proud of, and it would not have been possible to do it on my own.”

As the regular season wound down, Westbrook talked a lot about how much Collison meant to the organization, and him as a player. He was always a first-class professional and although he hasn't been getting much playing time, Collison not once said anything bad about it.

Now for Westbrook, he has given a different message about what Collison meant to him. Westbrook was asked by the Oklahoman, for a statement about Collison's retirement. The reigning MVP only gave a two-word response.

For Collison, he only averaged 5.9 points and 5.2 assists per game throughout his career, but he still might be one of the most important players that the Thunder have had in Oklahoma City. Collison goes all the way back to the days when the franchise was still known as the Seattle Supersonics, and with both teams, he was always an important piece on and off the court.
