The NBA world was shocked when Adrian Wojnarowski announced that Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George would be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Danilo Gallinari, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and a treasure trove of first-round picks. The trade left Russell Westbrook as the only true star on the Thunder. Immediately, fans speculated that Westbrook would want out of the rebuilding franchise. However, a new report suggests that the dynamic guard might have wanted out even before the swap.

Marc Spears of ESPN reported that he had heard Westbrook didn't take too kindly to the Thunder's repeated playoff failures. Spears claims that sources revealed Westbrook's frustrations, saying:

“According to sources, since George, Westbrook and the Thunder suffered a disappointing first-round exit in the playoffs in April, Westbrook has been quietly grumbling about the team’s struggles and may want out.

Westbrook is known to be a hypercompetitive player. No matter the score or situation, Westbrook always seems to play like someone on the other team has personally insulted him. Whether it is a chip on the shoulder manufactured from years of losing, torrents of online hate, or the departure of Kevin Durant to form a superteam, Westbrook hates losing. It is not a surprise to see that he was ready to head to greener pastures after years of disappointment.

Now, Westbrook might get his wish. Rumors have abounded that he is destined to land in either Miami or Houston. By the end of free agency, Westbrook could don a new team's jersey for the first time in his career.
