Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera bolstered his already stout Baseball Hall of Fame resume on Saturday, as he became the latest player to join the 3,000 hits club.

After recording 12 hits in his opening 12 games of the 2022 campaign, Cabrera entered the early home game against the Colorado Rockies a mere one hit away from reaching 3,000. He wasted no time in achieving this milestone on the day, as a single in the first inning added another stellar accomplishment to his Hall of Fame resume.

Cabrera is now just the third player ever to record at least 3,000 hits, 500 home runs and a batting average of .300.

Cabrera (.310) does have an edge over both Hank Aaron (.305) and Willie Mays (.301) in batting average. However, the Tigers designated hitter has ways to go before he can notch 600-plus home runs as Aaron and Mays did so during their respective Hall of Fame careers.

Albert Pujols was a member of this historic club in MLB history, but his batting average dipped below .300 during his final years with the Los Angeles Angels.

Cabrera has had quite a past year in his career, which has also included tallying for 500 home runs and 1,500 runs scored. There is not much left for him to achieve at this stage in his career, although he is one double away from 600, and he could still climb up the all-time home runs leaderboard.
