Detroit Tigers star first baseman Miguel Cabrera is on the verge of joining an extremely elite statistical group in the MLB, as he is only a hit away from becoming the newest member of the 3,000-hit club. There's a big chance that Cabrera will finally hit the milestone this Wednesday against the New York Yankees in the third leg of a four-game home-stand, and when he was asked about his feeling about the virtually inevitable feat, Miggy sounded emotional.

Via Jon Morosi of the MLB Network:

On Tuesday, Cabrera entered Game 2 of the series needing just four hits to reach 3,000 and went on to put together a vintage performance for the Tigers, albeit in a 5-3 loss. The 39-year-old Cabrera went 3 of 4 with a run to raise his season batting average to .333.  He has recorded at least a hit in each of his last two games and in three of his past four. His hit no. 3,000 could come against Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery, who's faced Cabrera just once in his career, with the hitter going 1 of 3 with a strikeout.

Cabrera is a lock to make the Hall of Fame one day and the hit everyone's been waiting for will only further solidify his status as not only one of his generation's best baseball players but of all time as well.

The last time a player reached 3,000 hits is Albert Pujols, who got his in 2018.
