The Minnesota Timberwolves have brought in six free agents to work out at the team facility in order to fill some of the remaining roster spots. Point guards Trey Burke and Isaiah Canaan, shooting guards Anthony Morrow and Alan Anderson, as well as forwards Perry Jones and Thomas Robinson were invited to open workouts, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.

With the decreasing chance of signing spark plug Shabazz Muhammad to a short-term contract, the Timberwolves have only 11 players on the roster and can sign up to four more contracts, including an additional two-way contract.

Minnesota only has minimum contracts to offer, after shelling out a substantial amount in Jimmy Butler's salary, as well as the many offseason acquisitions made this summer (Jeff Teague, Taj Gibson, Jamal Crawford).

The team has brought a variety of players to address the needs prior to the start of the season, with Burke and Canaan likely competing for a third-string backup point guard slot behind Tyus Jones, while Morrow is the only prime shooter of the group, with a very decent chance of making the roster, as the Wolves are looking for as many shooting options as they can get their hands on.

Anderson is an eight-year veteran with a well-rounded game that can play as a shooting guard or a small forward, while Perry Jones and Thomas Robinson give the team another rebounder/hustle big man to complete the roster.

Minnesota is expected to also look into young talent for that last remaining two-way contract, but is expected to maximize roster and cap flexibility (which they don't have much of) until the beginning of the season.
