The Minnesota Timberwolves undoubtedly have some big expectations going into the 2017-18 NBA season. The Timberwolves' newly revamped roster is a testament to how much confidence head coach and President of Basketball Operations Tom Thibodeau has in their young talent. Of course, it all begins with center/power forward Karl-Anthony Towns.

Towns has become arguably the most promising young player in the league thanks to his versatile skill set and freakish athleticism. However, despite his ability to score from nearly anywhere on the court, Towns was adamant about being able to dominate the paint during an interview with NBA.com:

“When you can understand how to be versatile and you have to understand that the three-pointers are always going to be the sexiest shot, but you have to make sure you understand that things that get the job done, always end up being in the paint.”

Towns' comments certainly come as a surprise considering he is a career 36 percent shooter from three-point land. Despite being just 21 years old, he has an offensive repertoire far beyond his years.

There has been plenty of buzz surrounding the lucrative extension for shooting guard Andrew Wiggins. Make no mistake, the Timberwolves' success will revolve around the play of Towns.
