Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns plays in the Twin Cities, but that's not where his football allegiances lie.

Towns took to his Instagram account as the Philadelphia Eagles trounced the Minnesota Vikings 38-7 on Sunday to advance to the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. One would think that Towns, being that he plays for a professional sports team in a city in Minneapolis, would root for the Vikings, another professional sports team from the same area his sports team is in.

But no. He doesn't. He's a contrarian that posts memes shushing haters of the Eagles, per Alysha Tsuji of USA Today Sports.

Someone needs to talk to Towns about his allegiances. He plays for the Timberwolves, in Minnesota. Why is he not rooting for the Vikings? They were a playoff team. The Timberwolves were also a playoff team. The two go together like spaghetti and meatballs.

There must be something about the Eagles that just trumps the Vikings in terms of fandom. Maybe it's simply the city of Philadelphia. The fans there are very passionate, and there are a plethora of professional sports teams in that city that are fun to follow, such as the Philadelphia 76ers.

But Towns' city also has very fun sports teams! All in all, this whole thing is confusing.

At any rate, Towns has the right to silence any haters he wants, and the right to cheer for whichever teams he likes. It's just confounding that he hasn't fully embraced every sports team in Minnesota.

But then again, maybe that's the point.
