It's not an official NBA season until Minnesota Timberwolves legend Kevin Garnett curses on national television. So with that being said, the 2018-19 season has begun.
On TNT's pregame show while discussing the Jimmy Butler trade saga, Garnett said Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor “doesn't know sh**t about basketball.”
Butler, of course, requested a trade from the Timberwolves almost five weeks ago and is still on the team. A report came out last week stating Taylor rejected a trade from the Miami Heat which would have brought guard Josh Richardson and a first-round pick to Minnesota, and sent Butler to his preferred destination in South Beach.
Timberwolves president/head coach Tom Thibodeau and general manager Scott Layden are reportedly against trading Butler because they know the team won't be good without the four-time All-Star. Butler, 29, averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game last season with Minnesota. He shot 47.4 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the arc, 85.4 percent from the free-throw line, and guided the Timberwolves to the playoffs in the rugged Western Conference for the first time in 14 years.
Kevin Garnett has never been one to mince words, and that trend will likely continue all season. He's one of the best personalities on television.
