Tottenham striker Harry Kane was set to return to training with his club on Monday after a brief holiday, but it appears he's skipped out in order to force a move away from Spurs.

This is interesting, to say the least after it was revealed that Man City's pursuit of Jack Grealish would likely end any possibility of also signing Kane, who made it clear in May he wanted to leave Tottenham in search of trophies and Champions League football.

The Citizens are inching very close to a deal that would bring Grealish to the Etihad from boyhood club Aston Villa, with Harry Kane's enormous price tag of well over £100 million far too steep for the Premier League champions. It's understandable, however, given they will likely have to pay around £100 million for the Villa talisman as well.

Spurs meanwhile have made it very clear they want to keep their main man, but his latest move is just another hint that he wants out. Harry Kane has insisted he has a gentlemen's agreement with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

The 28-year-old England international has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea as well, but given how much he cost, it seems unlikely either club makes a move for Kane this summer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano offered some insight on the situation with Harry Kane and Spurs, stating that the weeks ahead could be decisive and tense.

He told Sky Sports News' Transfer Talk show: “I expect some complicated weeks ahead, because the situation is really, really tense.

“I think this week everything will be clear. Tottenham need to take a position, and Manchester City are ready if their position changes.

“This week will be key to understand what will happen.”

Despite reports Man City could be out of the running for the reigning Premier League Golden Boot winner, anything is possible at this point.

This situation will be an intriguing one to keep a close eye on.
