Minnesota Twins fans and players couldn't help but dread the worst when superstar Carlos Correa was hit in the finger by a pitch earlier this season. The talented shortstop was placed on the injured list shortly after and there was no set timetable. But Correa seemingly avoided the worst. Manager Rocco Baldelli announced that the team is expected to active him prior to Tuesday night's game against the A's in Oakland.

Correa's return generated questions and concerns about the future of top prospect Royce Lewis. The young infielder is hitting .286 since his promotion to the big leagues and even smashed a clutch grand slam over the weekend.

It appears as if Royce Lewis has played well enough to remain on the Twins' MLB roster despite Correa's activation. Rocco Baldelli stated that veteran reliever Jharel Cotton will be designated for assignment to make room for Carlos Correa.

Correa wasn't setting the world on fire by any means through his first month in Minnesota. He enters Tuesday's action with an underwhelming slash line of .255/.320/.372 and a pair of home runs. But he is still a vital piece to the puzzle for a Twins team with postseason aspirations. His leadership alone is a plus for a fairly young Minnesota squad.

And his offensive ceiling is extremely high. Carlos Correa is liable to catch fire at any given moment. His expected return from the injured list has Twins nation excited for what may be in store in 2022.

Something special is undoubtedly brewing in Minnesota.
