Israel Adesanya’s coach Eugene Bareman doesn’t like how the UFC and Nick Diaz’s team tried to pull off his MMA return.

Despite being stopped by Robbie Lawler, Nick Diaz put on a great show for the fans at UFC 266.

Though UFC fans were thrilled to see Diaz enter the octagon once again, Israel Adesanya’s coach Eugene Bareman isn’t pleased at all.

According to Bareman, from a business standpoint, Diaz making his UFC return is indeed a big hit. However, considering the six-year hiatus and limited training camp, the fight shouldn’t have pushed through.

“I’m a little bit disappointed, I guess,” Bareman told Submission Radio. “I mean, I came through the ranks watching Nick Diaz. And a guy who’s been out that long and apparently had six weeks to train with—Was it six years, I think? And then why did he only have a six-week training camp? That’s crazy. You can’t do that to someone.”

Bareman further explained that no matter how good Diaz is as a fighter, there’s no way he could perform at his best against an active former UFC champ in Lawler in that kind of set-up.

“As good a fighter as he is, which he showed, he should never have been in there. He should never have been in there. And we can speculate about the reasons he was in there. [Diaz] is obviously a big draw, he brings a lot of eyes to the sport, to the pay-per-view and stuff, but you can’t have six years off, jump in against someone who’s been regularly fighting, someone who’s as good as Robbie Lawler, do a six-week training camp and come in there and expect to perform.”
