Matthew Fitzpatrick pulled off an improbable victory at Brookline to win the US Open over the weekend. He upset the likes of stars such as Rory Mcilroy in the tournament. It was his first major championship and PGA Tour event victory. The 27-year old shared an emotionally honest reaction to his win a day after his special moment.

What. A. Day. From being a little kid this is a moment I could only dream of. To achieve one of my career goals yesterday was truly incredible. Words really can’t describe the feeling of winning a major, it’s 1000x better than I ever thought it would be.

It is every young golfer's dream to win a PGA major championship. Earning a victory at an historic event such as the US Open makes it even more surreal.

Fitzpatrick finish with a score of -6, narrowly beating out Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris who both finished at -5. Hideki Matsuyama finished right behind them at -3.

However, Matthew Fitzpatrick is not content with just one major victory. He revealed his goal for how many majors he wants to add to his resume moving forward, per Yahoo Sports.

“Six is the number,” Fitzpatrick said. “That’s the number that we all agreed on. I’ve got a bit of a way to go, but it’s a good start. You want to go win more now, there’s no doubt about that. It’s easy to still go off track. I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing, and hopefully more will come. I’m delighted with one so far.”
